my story

To say that the first twenty-eight years of my adult life were crazy would be an understatement.  I began my journey into “crazy” in my early twenties working on Wall Street running multi-million dollar travel accounts in New York City.  During this ten-year period of time, sixty hour work weeks were commonplace. There was little time in my life for anything else other than work.

“Crazy” took on a whole new look in my thirties and forties. I quit my job, purchased a home, and started a family. While my husband continued to work twelve hour days in New York City, I ran a household of two children and two dogs and managed three family owned businesses. My daily existence was punctuated by obligation and the ever-present demands of my constant companion affectionately referred to as my “to-do list.”  I measured my success and happiness by the amount of tasks that I was able to complete.

When you tell your story long enough and often enough, you begin to believe it. Crazy became “my story” and the controlled chaos I created for myself brought purpose and meaning to my life. I loved the thrill of difficult deadlines and sweeping in to clean up the mess.  Even more, I loved the feeling of completion and the accolades that came with a job well done.  But I learned the hard way that “crazy” is not sustainable.

My life came to a screeching halt in 2008 when my husband's career found us leaving our beloved community in New Jersey and moving to Massachusetts. All at once, I became an empty nester, sold my businesses, sold my home, and said goodbye to many of my closest friends. During this life-changing transition, I became very ill with what turned out to be adrenal failure… too much “crazy”!

Over the course of a year, with slowing down and healing came dramatic change.  I was catapulted into a huge spiritual awakening. I began to move inward to a place where I could hear the messages that needed to be heard, connect with loved ones in a meaningful way, and allow my inner voice to guide me rather than the external forces that had been pulling me in a million different directions.  Gradually, a “new me” was emerging.

“Listening to our emerging truths. We become increasingly true to ourselves.  Honesty becomes our currency.  We are given a glimpse of our souls.”  – Julia Cameron

I have spent the last seventeen years being a student of life…exploring my new found spirituality and attempting to put it into practice on a daily basis.  While failure and success continue to be a part of my life, what I have learned through years of intensive self study is that my happiness does not need to depend on either.

Are you living the life of crazy? If you are, I’m here to tell you that change is possible.  If I can do it, so can you.  If you are here, then synchronicity is knocking on your door, and change is just around the corner.  I look forward to working with you.
